I'm 12 years old and I live in Naples, Florida. My grandpa Juan has been working with wood his whole life — he's the "Gramps" part. I'm the "Me."
Every phone stand on this shop is made by the two of us at his workbench. He cuts and sands. I help finish them, take the photos, and run the shop. We use real maple wood, food-safe oil, and a lot of sandpaper. No factories. No machines doing it for us. Just him, me, and a saw that's older than I am.
We started this because I wanted to learn how to build something real, and Gramps wanted someone to pass his skills to. Every order we ship is one more afternoon we get to spend together in his garage.
What we're saving up for: a bigger saw. Right now Gramps' old one is slow, and we can only make a few stands a week. With a new one, we can make more, teach more kids in the neighborhood, and maybe one day open a tiny workshop in Naples.
When you buy a phone stand from us, that's where your money goes. Gramps gets his cut. I get mine (some of it goes to the tools I use to run this). And the rest goes into the saw fund.
Thanks for reading this far. If you got one of our stands, send us a photo of it on your desk — we love seeing where they end up.
